Making Malaysia a popular tourist destination among Nordic travelers: JOI Communication was the exclusive PR firm for Tourism Malaysia in the Nordic region between 2004 and 2014. Our team succeeded in strengthening the brand and its position in the Nordic travel market with the total number of visitors to Malaysia from Scandinavia and Finland increasing by approximately 25 percent during the first two years of the mission. Publicity that promoted what Malaysia had to offer in editorial media such as travel magazines, daily newspapers, TV and radio in all the Nordic countries increased the number of arrivals from the region each year. The arrivals from Denmark, Norway and Sweden went up by 35 percent and as much as 90 percent in Finland during the campaign.Or as the Danish paper Jydske Vestkysten wrote; “Malaysia is stepping out of Thailand’s shadow.”
